This month, the L-P School District signed a contract with Yoder Produce to remove the existing greenhouse at Loudonville High School and build a new, 48x64 modern greenhouse. This project was made possible through a $250,000 grant from Loudonville FFA Alumni & Supporters. Our organization, in total, raised over $256,151 given to the schools for this project including support from the Hugo H. & Mabel B. Young Foundation, Ashland County Community Foundation, Mohican Area Community Foundation, Loudonville-Perrysville School Foundation, and individuals and businesses.

According to the contract with Yoder Produce, the new greenhouse should be completed by May 31, 2024 and ready for the 2024-2025 school year. In total, the project is expected to cost approximately $473,000 with the remaining expenses funded by the school district. Our organization would like to thank all of our donors, the L-P School Board, and Superintendent Jen Allerding for making this project a reality.

A&S held their third annual Fall Cookout on August 19 at the Perrysville VFW.  The Fall Cookout is a community-wide event to introduce area residents to the work of the Alumni & Supporters group within our schools and community, as well as to provide a forum for guests to mingle and interact.

This year's cookouts were highlighted by Ayer's Farm supplying delicious homemade Black Raspberry ice cream for all, and the A&S organization announcing a gift of $10,000 to the L-P School District directed toward the Ag Department and FFA chapter.

In addition, it was announced that the A&S organization has independently raised $215,000 to assist the district in the construction of a new academic greenhouse.

The Loudonville FFA Alumni & Supporters have begun 2022 with a major investment toward the capital project to build a new educational greenhouse at Loudonville High School.  The organization recently committed $30,000 from 2021 fundraisers to be set aside for the project.

The current LHS greenhouse was built by the A&S in the 1980s, and although it has served as an educational classroom for nearly 4 decades it is no longer ideal for the current educational needs of the department.

A&S is hoping to work with the L-P Board of Education to gain approval to build a new, larger and more accessible greenhouse which will serve LHS students for decades to come.  This new greenhouse will include greater accessibility, better design to allow for large groups, as well as more efficient climate control in order to provide more suitable growing environments.

Although the project is still in the early planning stages, the project is expected to cost approximately $300,000.  Stay tuned for more updates and fundraising opportunities once the project is approved by the Board of Education.

The Loudonville FFA Alumni & Supporters announced yesterday that they would be granting an additional $2,500 to the Loudonville FFA chapter to assist with chapter activities and events.

This money is intended primarily for students to attend state convention, participate in contest and development events, as well as assist with the chapter banquet at the end of the year.

This amount now brings the A&S support to far exceed that originally requested by the chapter.  In addition to the $2,500, the A&S have covered the cost of registration, transportation, and lodging for all National Convention attendees as well as all-expenses covered for one member to attend National Convention and participate in the Convention Band.  Furthermore, the organization purchased new FFA jackets for all green hands and also awarded individual SAE Start Up Loans and post-graduate scholarships.
